Choose a psychotherapist

It is important when choosing a therapist to consider the level of education and training in psychotherapy the therapist has. In addition, you need to be sure that the therapist is someone who can focus on you and not talk about him- or herself inappropriately.

A certain level of comfort with your therapist is good to have, but if you suffer from anxiety, it can be unrealistic to expect to feel at ease with your therapist immediately. You can often get a sense of a therapist’s style by how they present themselves to you prior to a first appointment.
